History

Knowledge Grid was established in 2012 in Muscat as a joint venture between IRCA Global and Polyglot Institute and trained on average 32,000 learners per year. The company initially focused on providing HSE courses, mainly in the oil & gas sector. In 2021 Knowledge Grid acquired the equity share of Polyglot and was awarded institute status shortly after that.

Since then, we have focused on diversifying our offering, building an international brand, providing thought leadership and designing an integrated knowledge management platform in a new business model. This model is crafted around three areas of focus, namely Training, Consulting and Technology.

DR. WADDAH S. GHANEM AL HASHMI

DR. WADDAH S. GHANEM AL HASHMI

Graduated from the University of Wales College Cardiff, School of Engineering, with a Bachelor of Environmental Engineering (Honors). Waddah is considered one of the global authorities on Governance and Leadership and High Reliability Organisations (HROs). He is the Chairman of the Platform for Connected Leadership (PCL), Dubai, UAE. He is also currently the Senior Director for Sustainability, Operational and Business Excellence for the ENOC Group in Dubai, UAE and overseas all the Sustainability, CSR, Energy and Resource Management and reporting as well as Business and Operational Excellence, Innovation and Process Improvement and LSS projects with the Group.

Waddah holds several academic and vocational qualifications including two PG Diplomas an MSc in Environmental Sciences; an Executive MBA and a Doctorate from the University of Bradford in Governance and Leadership. He has received several awards in his career, most notably, the Rashid Prize for Scholarship Excellence in 2007 (Dubai), and the IEMA Sustainability Leader of the Year (UK) in 2019.

He delivers various lectures in technical, on learning and in leadership and governance at universities, conferences and within organisations. He is a visiting lecturer on the MSc program at the University of Technology Petronas (UTP) in Malaysia and appointed as an external examiner for PhD defence exams at the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) in India. His publications include various research, practitioner journal and conference papers in addition to 7 internationally published books mainly is Safety Management, Operational Excellence, Reflective Learning, HSE Practitioner Executive Development, Governance and Leadership as well as theology. Two books are currently under development in PSM & Human Factors and another on Governance and Leadership in Health and Safety. He served as Vice Chairman of Dubai Carbon (DCCE PJSC) from 2010-2019; he is a Board Member of the not-for-profit Emirates Environment Group; an Executive Committee Member (Board) the Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) and a Board/Council member of the Energy Institute (EI) in the UK and serves as the Hon. Chairman of the Energy Institute Middle East Branch. He is also the senior advisor to the Board of the Clean Energy Business Council. He also represents the UAE in the International Standards Organisation (ISO) Technical Committee 283 and is Chairman of the UAE National Committee for Health and Safety.

He was born and is based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

PROF. MIKE SOLOMON

Practicing mining engineer

PROF. MIKE SOLOMON

Is a practicing mining engineer with 42 years of experience in the gold, platinum, diamond and coal sectors. He has been a visiting lecturer at various South African universities and an Honorary Lecturer at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law, and Policy at the university of Dundee in Scotland.

He was also a member of a review panel for the South African Presidential Commission for revitalizing the South African Mining industry. He sat on the Global Agenda Counsil for the Future of Mining and Metals of the World Economic Forum from the inception of the Council in 2008 to its dissolution in 2016 and remains a member of rage WEF Global Expert Network.

Since 2019 Prof Solomon has served as the Senior Advisor to the DMRE Mine Closure team that is developing the South African National Mine Closure Strategy. He is at present leading the public consultation process on the policy. Mike Solomon has lectured widely on Mining Investment Risk focusing ono the supply-side factors of operational risk, host country political risk, and geopolitical risk. From a sustainability perspective, he specializes in the economic diversification and decarbonization of mines, but from commodity and investment, risk is also knowledgeable on the mining of precursor battery minerals.

Strategically, Mike understanding of the commitment of most major mining companies after COP26 to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040 ahead of the Paris Accord target of 2050 is a critical factor in this subject.

He is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Cape Town, where he specializes in the economic diversification and decarbonization of mines. He has recently been awarded an Honorary Life Fellow of the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.

(SAIMM) for his contribution to mining in South Africa. Mike has served as a Council of the Institute member for over a decade, where he chairs the SAIMM ESGS Committee.

Dr. C. Radhakrishnan (CR) is a Doctorate in Chemistry and, having 30+ years’ experience in the field Environment, HSE in Infrastructure, Power, Hydrocarbons, Energy and Metallurgical sectors. During this tenure, he developed business with MECA, PDO, BP, Oman Oil, Dhofar Power Company, Oman Power and Water Procurement Company, In addition to these roles, he has also worked as a CEO & Academic Director, Emirates ERM Risk Management and Consultancy and IRCA Middle East. His key strengths include technical training, project delivery, business development, management of client relationship and commercial and contracts administration. He has conducted several trainings related to environmental awareness, ISO 14001, HEMP, and related programmes. As an academician, he has written and published several articles in Journals and Proceedings. ADNOC, ENOC, Dugas, Du Telecom, conducted trainings on Environmental Issues for PDO and ADNOC,served as Business Head for Infrastructure & Environment in Worley (erstwhile WorleyParsons) in Oman. Provided Consultancy Services to PDO, Oman Oil, BP, and served as a Corporate Environmental Advisor in PDO, HSE focal point and Management Representative for ISO 14001; EMS and ISO 9001; QMS in various organisations.
